Your words, read far beyond your language

Write in the language you think in. Editors polish the path, translators carry your ideas across, and readers in other languages answer back.

How publishing works

From your first draft to readers in several languages — every step is visible in your Studio.

  1. 1

    Write and choose your languages

Write in your own language, pick the group your article belongs to and the target languages you want to reach. Drafts are saved automatically.

  2. 2

    Editorial review

An editor reads your submission and accepts it, asks for specific changes or declines it with a note. You can correct and resubmit at any time.

  3. 3

A place in the next issue

Accepted articles are scheduled into the next issue of their group. When the issue is released, your article goes live together with every translation already approved.

  4. 4

    Translation and readers

Translators pick up your article for each target language. Readers rate, comment and can ask you questions in their own language.

The priority score, simply explained

Translators work through a shared queue, and the priority score decides which articles rise to the top. It blends three things — and the first two are in your hands.

  • Quality — how strong and clear the editor finds your article (counts the most).
  • Timeliness — how relevant the topic is right now.
  • Engagement — reactions, comments, ratings and views lift your article on their own.
  • Articles longer than the recommended length lose a little priority — they are still published.

Publishing guidelines

A few simple principles keep OneNation worth reading in every language.

Original work

Publish what you wrote yourself. Quote others briefly and name your sources.

Respectful content

No incitement, insults, illegal content, spam or other people’s personal data.

About 1,500 characters

A recommended length, not a hard limit: concise articles are translated sooner.

The right group

Post in the group whose topic matches your article so the right readers find it.

Two ways to reach other languages

Every article can use the free community queue; when you need a date, hire a translator.

Questions writers ask

Does it cost anything to publish?
No. Publishing and volunteer translation are free. You only pay if you choose to hire a translator for a paid request.
Do I keep the rights to my article?
Yes. You keep your copyright and give OneNation the permission it needs to display and translate your article. See our Intellectual property page.
What happens if my article needs changes?
You receive the editor’s note in your notifications. Edit the article and resubmit it — it goes straight back to review.
Can I write longer than 1,500 characters?
Yes. The length is a recommendation. Longer articles are still published; they simply start a little lower in the translation queue.
Can readers in other languages talk to me?
Yes. Readers can ask you questions in their own language; a community translator brings the question to you, and you can answer with a new article.
