This policy explains what information OneNation collects, why, who can see it and the choices you have. We never sell your personal data.
1. Information we collect
- Account details you give us when you sign up: your full name, email address, password (stored only as a secure hash), role and languages.
- Google sign-in: if you choose to continue with Google, we receive your Google account identifier, name and email address. We never receive your Google password.
- Profile details you choose to add, such as a photo, cover image, bio and phone number, and for translators your experience and a professional link.
- Content you publish: articles, translations, comments, reactions, ratings, questions, topic suggestions, group posts and messages.
- Payment information needed for paid translations and withdrawals: wallet transactions, invoices and the bank account you register. Card details are entered on our payment provider’s form; we do not store your card number.
- Usage analytics: we record events such as article views, sign-ups and shares to understand how the Platform is used. We do not store IP addresses for this: visitors are counted through a code that changes every day and cannot be traced back to you.
2. How we use it
- To run your account, show your content to readers and match translation tasks and requests with translators who speak the right languages.
- To send you notifications in the app and by email — such as account confirmation, password resets, review decisions and, if you switch it on, a daily digest.
- To process payments, keep wallet balances accurate and prevent fraud or abuse.
- To keep the community safe by handling reports and enforcing our Terms of use.
- To improve the Platform using aggregated statistics.
3. What others can see
- Your name, photo, languages, badges and published articles or translations are visible to other members.
- You can hide your statistics and the list of people you follow from your privacy settings.
- Messages are visible only to the people in the conversation. Supervisors and administrators access content only to review, moderate and support the Platform.
- We share data with service providers that help us run the Platform (such as hosting, email and payment processing) only as needed for that service. We never sell your personal data.
4. Cookies and preferences
- We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to protect forms against forgery.
- We remember your language, theme and time zone so pages appear the way you prefer.
- We do not use advertising cookies.
5. Your choices and rights
- Update your profile, languages, email address and notification preferences at any time from your settings.
- Export: download a copy of your data (profile, articles, translations, comments, questions, bookmarks and preferences) from your privacy settings.
- Delete: request deletion of your account from your privacy settings. You can cancel the request by signing in again during the review period.
- Block members you do not want to hear from.
- For any other request about your data, contact us.
6. How long we keep data
We keep your data while your account is active. When an account is deleted we remove or anonymise its personal data, except records we must keep by law, such as financial transactions.
7. Keeping your data safe
Passwords are hashed, connections are encrypted, payments go through a specialised provider and access to personal data is limited to the people who need it. You can add an extra layer of protection to your account with two-step verification where it is available in your settings.
8. Changes and contact
We will tell you on the Platform about significant changes to this policy. Questions about your privacy? Write to us and we will get back to you.
