OneNation exists to carry people’s work across languages, so respecting that work is at the heart of how we operate. This policy explains who owns what on the Platform.
1. Writers keep their copyright
Articles remain the property of the writers who create them. Publishing on OneNation does not transfer your copyright to us. You confirm that what you publish is your own work, or that you have the right to publish it, and that quotations are short and credited.
2. Translators’ rights
- A translation is published under the translator’s name, together with a link to the original article and its writer.
- A translation is a derivative of the original: the translator holds the rights in their translation work, while the writer keeps the rights in the original article. Neither may publish the other’s work outside OneNation without their permission.
- By taking a task or request, the translator allows the translation to be published on OneNation alongside the original, as described in our Translation agreement.
3. The licence you grant OneNation
So that the Platform can work, you grant OneNation a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display, reproduce, format and distribute your content on the Platform and in its issues, notifications and sharing previews, and — for articles — to have them translated into the target languages you choose. This licence:
- is used only to operate and promote the Platform, always with credit to you;
- does not allow us to sell your work or publish it outside the Platform for any other purpose without your consent;
- ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies needed for legal reasons and translations already published by other members, which remain credited to you.
4. OneNation’s own content
The OneNation name, logo, design and software belong to OneNation and may not be used without our written permission.
5. Reporting an infringement
If you believe content on OneNation infringes your rights, use the Report option on that article, translation or comment and choose the most suitable reason, or contact us with a link to the content, a description of your work and how to reach you. Our team reviews reports and may hide or remove the content and warn or suspend the account concerned. Repeated infringement leads to account closure.
