How OneNation earns its living
You deserve to know how the platform you trust is funded. Here is the whole picture — what is free, what we charge for, and what we will never do.
Free, and staying free
Writing and publishing
Creating an account, writing, editorial review and publishing cost nothing.
Volunteer translation
The community translation queue is free for writers, with no commission taken.
Reading and taking part
Reading, groups, questions, comments and topic suggestions are open to every member.
A 20% commission on paid translations
Our main revenue today comes from paid translation requests. When a writer hires a translator, the agreed budget is held in the wallet and released at delivery: the translator receives 80% and OneNation keeps 20%.
- Founding translators pay no commission for one full year.
- One published rate for every paid request — no hidden fees.
- Nothing is charged on volunteer work.
Planned for the future
These are plans, not features available today. We will announce them clearly before they launch, and the core platform will stay free.
Planned: premium memberships
Optional extras for members who want more, on top of everything that is free today.
Planned: promoted articles
Clearly labelled promotion for writers who want extra visibility.
Planned: institutional services
Tailored support for universities, research centres and cultural institutions.
What we will never do
We never sell your personal data. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone. Our analytics count visits without storing IP addresses, and you can download a copy of your data or ask us to delete your account at any time from your settings. Read our Privacy policy for the details.
